Hi Wayne, Did you post a Crouse query on the PA-YORK board? Many, many more people read and post to that one. Worth a try. There is only one Crouse (any spelling I can think of) at St David's cemetery: Christian Crouse died May 18 1871 at 57-0-17 Jane
Could some kind soul do a look-up for me in Manheim Twp? I am still at the wall with my unknown Crouse who married Anna Maria Eberhardt. I can`t go any farther back until I find out who he was. They Lived in the Backman Valley area, Near Peter Zepp. In fact Peter and Catherine`s daughter Elizabeth married My unknown Crouse`s son George. They apparently went to the Zion Church in Manchester, but Jane Peppler says that the Zepps and many others are buried at St. Davids in Manheim Twp. It is logical therefore that the Crouses are also. If someone would check for me and see what Crouses, if any, are there I would be extremely grateful. Please check all spellings. Thanks very much, Wayne in FL
I need to find the maiden name and marriage date of my ancestor Nancy ____? wife of Frederick Dickensheets. Nancy was born 2, March 1771 Maryland; died 2, July 1851 Silver Run, Carroll Co. Maryland; buried St. Marys United Church of Christ Cemetery, Silver Run. Have not been able to locate a marriage record for Nancy and Frederick but it was probably about 1798 as their first child was born 1799. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Carleene (Olds) Roe Kettering, Ohio [email protected]
Searching for the parents and siblings of Sydney/Sidney Ann (Smith) Dickensheets. Born 1812 (England?) Maryland and died 26, September 1852 Montgomery Co., Ohio. Married David Dickensheets 4, February 1831 Frederick Co., Maryland. Sydney lived in the Silver Run area of Carroll Co., Maryland. Is anyone researching Smith's in this area and does Sydney fit into the family????? Carleene (Olds) Roe Kettering, Ohio [email protected]
I am also looking for descendants of this family: Descendants of Henry J. Dull Generation No. 1 1. Henry J.1 Dull was born April 1865 in Pennsylvania, and died Aft. 1920. He married Agnes V. Loats 1885, daughter of Lewis Loats and Lydia Wilson. Children of Henry Dull and Agnes Loats are: + 2 i. Alverta V. M.2 Dull, born 1887 in Maryland; died Aft. 1920. 3 ii. Charles Dull, born December 1889. 4 iii. Harry L. Dull, born August 1892. 5 iv. Milton E. Dull, born December 1894. 6 v. Arthur L. Dull, born August 1896. 7 vi. Wilbert C. Dull, born June 07, 1904; died November 19, 1987 in Hampstead, Carroll, MD. 8 vii. Mildred A. V. Dull, born 1907. 9 viii. Naomi C. M. Dull, born 1909. Generation No. 2 2. Alverta V. M.2 Dull (Henry J.1) was born 1887 in Maryland, and died Aft. 1920. She married John J. Zentgraf, son of Sarah Zengraft. Children of Alverta Dull and John Zentgraf are: 10 i. James V.3 Zentgraf, born 1910; died April 1983. 11 ii. Joseph Zentgraf, born 1913; died August 31, 1992. 12 iii. Louise Zentgraf, born 1916.
Hi, Sorry about previous empty post. In the 1900 census, Election District #7, Precinct 1, Carroll County, there is this entry: Yingling Vincent born Jun 1873, married 6 years Yingling Sarah born July 1871, married 6 years, three children, all still living Zengraft John J. "S-son" April 1888 Yingling Frank son Aug 1895 Yingling Mary Aug 1898 Zengraft John V. father-in-law Jun 1819 m. 42 years, born in Germany, naturalized in 1847 Zengraft Adeline Mother-in-law Jan 1830, bore one child (still living), Adeline and parents were born in Maryland Yingling Mathew brother Mar 1884 This entry seems to imply that John J. Zengraft was born out of wedlock to Sarah, who is the only child of John V. and Adeline Zengraft. (If Sarah had had a previous marriage to a Zencraft, the elder Zencrafts would not be Vincent's mother- and father-in-law.) This stepson John J. Zengraft married Alverta Dull (of the line I am following) about 1908 and they had at least: James, Joseph and Louise. Alverta and her three children are living with her father Henry Dull in the 1920 census, by which point Alverta was a widow. My goal here is to find descendants of John J. Zengraft and Alverta Dull. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Jane Peppler
Hello,
Can anyone tell me where Warehime, Maryland is? I have a beautiful heirloom gold pocket watch that was made there. Appearing on the face of the watch is "George E.M. Warehime, Warehime, MD". Also would like to know which George E.M. Warehime was the maker, as I have two that would fit the bill. Any help appreciated. Nancy Weaver Knight

I`m sending this to multiple lists, so I apologize if you get a bunch of them. I`m hoping some of you nice people out there can help me. Does anyone have a list of burials at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Littlestown, Pa.? This was our church and many of our Crouse ancesters are buried there. I`m also looking for info on my grandfather Joseph P. Rice who i`m told was also buried there but his gravestone may have deteriorated by now. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Group, I have just moved into the York, OA area and would like to take this proximity to look at the Carroll Co. records for my Armacost, Born and Day lines pre 1800. Is there a library, etc that has records and family files in Carroll Co.? Jack Dole
My known Dodson line is The family of Michael b) 1775 in Md. (according to the 1850 census). He was not old enough to fight in the Rev. War. He would have been old enough to fight in the war of 1812. It is thought that he moved to Bedford Co. Pa. sometime after 1800 with the rest of his siblings. Eventually Michael settled in Cambria Co. Jackson twp Pa. He was a farmer and also did some Maple sugar processing. He may have been a carpenter also since his son William is reported years later as being trained in farmering and carpentering. Michael died in Dec 1853 in Jackson twp Cambria Co. Pa. without a will. His personal property inventory was probated in Dec. 1853 in Cambria Co. Pa. There is no record of him owning any land at the time of his death. Michael's known sons are John, William, Griffith by Catherine ? [[ b) abt 1801 in Pa]] All three were born in Cambria Co. Pa. In 1860 Griffith and William were in Leavenworth Co. Ks. During the civil war they were back in Cambria Co. Pa. William and Griffith moved to Jackson Co. Mo after the Civil War. John is believed to have moved to Indiana Co Pa after his mother's death. Griffith's son Edward was raised in Jackson Co. Mo. Griffith moved his family to Lawrence, Ks. about 1900. Griffith and his 3d wife Belle died one month apart in 1903 leaving minor children to be raised by the older siblings. Griffith's son Edward married in 1906 in Lawrence, Ks. ************************************************************ The father of this Michael Dodson line is listed in some early LDS microfiche records as John. Which John is the question. Identifying the correct John is a problem. If Michael was the oldest son as is believed and his father John was 20ys to 25yr when he married it would suggest that the John I am looking for was born abt 1750. Another researcher has written that there is a John Dodson in DAR records as having been b) 1740-1750 and died 1816 who fought in the Rev. War but I don't have that record. It has been suggested by another researcher that my Michael was the son of John Hurley Dodson said to have been born abt 1752 and married to Mary Ann Smoot in abt 1774 which is plausable if it can be verified. However, still another researcher says a John Smoot Dodson was born to John Hurley Dodson at the same time as Michael Dodson [1775]. Still another researcher says that John Smoot Dodson was b) abt 1770. It is confusing. There appears to be a will [Book 1, pg. 459 etc] for John Dodson Sr. in Bedford Co. Greenfield twp. Pa who is the John I am looking for in Md. He had a 104 acres of land that he called a plantation where he was living at the time the will was written in 1815. The will does not say what his wife is named. Are there any primary records in Frederick Co or Carroll Co that could clear up the confusion? I am looking for any kind of record that would clearify, show where and when Michael was born or grew up and something about his father. The census records of 1850 of Cambria Co. Pa. say that Michael was born in Md. Census records have been known to be wrong but I have no reason to believe otherwise at this point. I have no real information as to who his mother was. Has anyone run across any document or information that would clearify this confusion. Muriel
Can anyone look up a burial for us in the cemetery book for Pipe Creek Cemetery in Uniontown? I was just told it is a Brethren cemetery and there is a GREENWOOD buried there. Hello Everyone, There has been some new changes/additions to the Carroll County GenWeb site and I would like to share them with you. 1) You will be able to announce "YOUR CARROLL COUNTY FAMILY REUNIONS in 2001" Please email me with the specifics, name of the family reunion, date, place, contact person with their address, telephone number/email etc. Please place in the Subject line to me "Carroll County Family Reunion" or "CCFR2001" And I will post it on the "CCFR2001" page as soon as possible. My husband, Rodger, is developing an automatic program, so you will be able to post it instead of going through me, that will be up by the end of June. 2) GenConnect Bulletin Boards for Carroll County has been added. These Boards has icons to QUERIES, BIOS, OBITS, BIBLE RECORDS, DEEDS, PENSIONS, and WILLS. Just click on the Board you would like to either read a posted message in that subject or to post a message. These Boards are fully automated and your message with be sent to anyone that has signed up for the MdCarrol-L or MdCarrol-D list. Plus they are archived on the GenConnect Boards. 3) Birth and Death Certificates link to the Vital Records site for Maryland Department of Health. Here it will tell you the cost of an birth or death certificate and you can get a copy of the forms from their site to print out. Birth and Death Certificates were not issued to the Counties in Maryland until 1898. And for the City of Baltimore, they had started in 1875. If you need a copy of a Birth or Death prior 1950, you will need to go to the Hall of Records, State Archives in Annapolis and get an microfilm copy. http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/homepage/html/homepage/html click on Reference and Research and then click on Vital Records. The Maryland Archives has their microfilm catalog on line and you can do a lot of pre-research at home by looking through the catalogs for your Land records, Marriages, Births, Deaths, Maryland Census, Probate, Church Records and Newspapers and much more. 4) Three new additions that is under construction by will be up soon. CARROLL COUNTY FAMILIES HOMEPAGES VOLUNTEER LOOK-UPS I will be sending out a guide line for the Volunteer Look-ups and the Carroll County Families Homepages soon. NEWSPAPERS (that would cover Carroll County starting as as early as 1790 to present) 5) List of Genealogical Bookstores I hope some of the changes will help someone. I will be updating you all as I make the changes or additions to the site. Happy Memorial Day and have a safe weekend. Susan E. Bundy Carroll County GenWeb list Coordinator
