    1. [MDCARROLL] Help needed finding date for Obit
    2. Hi, After finally solving my brick wall I'm concentrating on trying to fit the 43 people on my Who Are these people list into my new family tree. I found two possible matches in the SSDI but both entries only include the month and year and not the date of their deaths. According to the SSDI: Raymond Rumsport died in September 1966 with his last known residence in Union Bridge Maryland. Margaret Rumsport died in Jan 1972 with her last known residence in Union Bridge Maryland. Is there a way to find the full date of their deaths so I can find their obits to see if I can figure if they fit into the family tree. Thanks for your help. -- Carolyn Romspert [email protected]

    3. I've "rescued" three old photographs all taken at studios in Westminster, Maryland. The first is a photograph of Rose YENGLING taken at the Baldwin Studio likely sometime in the 1890's. Rosa appears to be 30-40 years of age at the time. The second photo also taken at the Baldwin Studio is of Martin KOONS and is also probably taken in the 1890's when Martin was 30-40 years of age. The third photograph was also taken at the Baldwin Studio and is of Hollie ENGLAR. I'm assuming that Hollie is a nickname because I do believe this is a photograph of a young boy, though it is hard to tell. I would guess the photo was taken in the 1890's and that Hollie is approximately 3-6 years of age at the time. The handwritten names on the back of the photographs were all penned by the same person so we know that the photographs originally belonged together, though I don't have a clue regarding the connection. I'm hoping that someone from the families can be located so that these beautiful photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family. If you are a member of one of these families or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. Re: [MDCARROLL] Porters of Carrollton
    2. Phil Stackhouse
    3. Hello Phyllis, I am researching the FROST family of old Anne Arundel (now Howard) Co., Maryland and your posting about the PORTERs caught my attention. I have often seen listed (LDS and others) the marriage of Gabriel McKenzie PORTER (brother of your Moses) to Rebecca FROST on 10 May 1797 in Alleghany Co., Maryland. This Rebecca FROST is most often attributed to the family of Josiah FROST of the Frostburg FROSTs - a New Jersey line. I am working on the theory that this Rebecca is the daughter of John and Anne FROST of Anne Arundel Co. and wonder if you could help me clarify a few things. My questions: The data that I have (not my research) indicates that Nancy Ann McKenzie was born ca. 1746 at "Hobson's Choice". "Hobson's Choice" and "McKinsey's Discovery " were both patented by Moses McKinsey/McKensey who is (I believe) Nancy's father. These two tracts sit immediately adjacent to "Margaret's Fancy" where we find John and Anne FROST and their children in the 1770's. Is this consistent with your information? You (and others) indicate that John PORTER, Jr. was born in Carroll Co., Maryland, ca. 1737. Since Carroll Co. wasn't formed until the 1830's (from Baltimore and Frederick Cos.), do you have any better indication of where the family lived? A number of John and Nancy PORTER's children are listed as being born in Carrolton/Carroltown. The only Carrolton I am aware of is the estate of Charles Carroll in eastern Frederick Co, not far from the city of Frederick. Is is possible there has been some confusion about Carrolton being located in Carroll Co.? There are other PORTERs in the vicinity of the FROSTs and McKENZIEs in Upper Anne Arundel during this era and I wonder if they are also connected to the family of John PORTER of England. (My g-grandfather William FROST married (2nd) Mary Ellen PORTER in 1847) Is it known where he immigrated and settled? Well, enough questions <G> Any help or direction you can give me on these PORTERs and FROSTs would be much appreciated. Good luck in your research and Happy Thanksgiving. Surnames: Feeser, Lohr, Bankert, Knipple, Erb Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CFB.2ACI/305 Message Board Post: George Washington Feeser was born 9 Apr. 1833, to George and Margaret Lohr Feeser of PA. He was baptized at St. Mary's, in Carroll Co., on 16 June 1833. He married Catherine Myers 8 Dec. 1856 in Carroll Co. According to the 1900 census, he was living in Carroll Co., Manchester #6, ED 129, at 68 yrs of age. Anything after that is a mystery. Is there a way to search for an obituary if the date of death is unknown? If I had access to the 1910 or 1920 census, I might be able to at least pin down a 10 yr period for possible death date, but so far, I haven't had any luck getting someone to do a look-up for either of those census years. Does the Carroll Co. Historical Society keep index cards on individuals, like some historical societies do? How do you find a copy of a will for an individual in Carroll Co.? Any help would be much appreciated. Sincerely grateful...Janet
