    1. William H. B. DORSEY (1841 - 1879)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CFB.2ACI/592.1 Message Board Post: The following information is provided for clues. I do not have proof that this is the correct Wm. H. DORSEY, but it seems likely. History of Fredk. Co., MD, by F. McKINSEY, 1910: Wm. H. B. DORSEY (23 Aug. 1841 - Dec. 1879, Mt. Airy, bu. St. John's Catholic Cem.) m. 20 Nov. 1867, Fannie V. EBERT (25 July 1843, Mt. Airy - 31 Dec. 1893). Dau. Frances Charlotte, b. ca. 1873, m. 20 Nov. 1895, Charles Sothoron HOWARD, b. 1861, s/o Chas. Edwd. HOWARD & Joan(na) Eliza GROVE. Chas. E. & "Fannie" had Chas. Sothoron HOWARD, b. 19 Nov. 1896, & Francis Dorsey HOWARD, b. 28 Aug. 1898. Chas. HOWARD with matching birth date is on SSDI, d. Jan. 1983, W. Palm Beach, PB, FL. FamilySearch database of the 1880 Census, Mt. Airy, Carroll Co., MD: DORSEY, Fannie V., 30; daus. Fannie C., 7, & Imogene M., 6. Hancock, Washington Co., MD, 1880: GROVE, Wm., 52, wid.; bro. John, 35; ch. Laura, 13, & John, 11; sister Joanna HOWARD, 42, wid., Chas. S. HOWARD, 19; Clara M. HOWARD, 14; & Edward B. HOWARD, 11. Of the Wm. H. DORSEY entries in FamilySearch, it appears most likely that he was the Wm. H., s/o Gustavus Warfield DORSEY & Sophie BUSSARD. Gus. was s/o Dennis DORSEY & Maria OWINGS. DORSEY & NIMMO's "Dorsey Family" has the family from the immigrant Edward to Dennis DORSEY (ca. 1785 - 1832) m. 5 Jan. 1811, by lic/o Fredk. Co., MD, Maria OWINGS, & had Samuel O., Gustavus (m. Sophia BUZZARD, sic), Roderick, Nicholas, & Mary Ann. H. W. NEWMAN's Anne Arundel Gentry also has Gustavus DORSEY, b. 18 July 182[2?], m. by Fredk. Co., MD, lic/o 25 Nov. 1840, Sophia BUSSARD. In 1850, they were of Carroll Co., Gus., 31; Sophia, 25; ch. Wm. A., 8; Catharine, 7; & Anna, 3. [Since the marriage license is confirmed by MYERS' Marriage License of Fredk. Co., MD, the age in 1850 is more likely correct, Gus., b. ca. 1819. Since she was m. 1840, Sophia was probably older than 25 in 1850.] For family of Dennis DORSEY, NEWMAN has Nicholas, b. 1812/3, dsp Samuel O., b. 24 Apr. 1814, m. 24 Mar. 1837, Mary RIGGS Roderick, b. 1818, m. 26 D 183[3?] Mary E. DAVIS Gustavus, b. 18 July 18[22?], m. 25 N 1840, S. B. Wm. Fredk. b. Nov. 1825, dsp Mary Ann, b. 20 Apr. 1828, dsp. Census of 1850, Howard Dist., AA, MD; Maria DORSEY & ch. Nicholas, Roderick, Wm., & Mary Ann [per NEWMAN, ages not listed]. Can anyone provide proof the this is the correct William DORSEY?

You got the best copy possible because it is the filming quality. Came not from Carroll County but from Frederick County. The microfilming was done by people hired by Frederick County Courthouse, not anyone else. You should have seen the backward filming of the later years and in negative setting instead of postive setting. The microfilming was NOT done by the Genealogical Society of Utah at all. You owe me an apology for that offensive and false comment.
