    1. [MDCAROLI] Regarding Dr. Jacob Charles Madara
    2. First, let me confirm that Ridgely is in Caroline County Maryland. There is also a Ridgely, West Virginia on the boarder of Allegeny County Maryland. Doctor Madara began practice in Ridgely in 1899 just after completing his residency at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. A 1-page biography and photo of Dr. Madara is in the June 1912 publication of the Caroline Sun's History and Industrial Edition of The Founding of Ridgely--The Early Days of Its History. Doctor Madara was married a second time to Bertha Barry, daughter of J. Marshall Barry and Maggie nee Clark. J. Marshall Barry is my paternal great grandfather. I have been researching this side of my family tree. Amazingly coincidence! My wife and I just drove down to Maryland's eastern shore and spent yesterday in Ridgely. While having lunch in the town's only restaurant we met an elderly lifelong resident of Ridgely who went home and returned with the book on Ridgely. As of 1912, Doctor Madara had two sons: Frederick Garland and Jacob Charles, Jr. There was no mention of a wife and I presume this was after the end of his first marriage and before his marriage to Bertha. The biography also mentioned that his grandmother Eliza Fries was 88 years old and living in Pennsylvania. I would very much like to develop more information on the Madara family and would like to share further with you. You may reach me at Austin.Barry@ssa.gov or abarry6111@aol.com Austin Barry

    3. Austin & others, These are from "The Denton Journal" of Denton, Caroline County, Maryland. 1 December 1900 Saturday The home of Mrs. Frances E. Stambaugh, in Ridgely, was the scene of a beautiful wedding on Tuesday evening last, at 8 o'clock, when the only daughter of the late Frederick B. and Mrs. Stambaugh, Miss. E. Grace, was united in marriage to Dr. J. C. Madara, a young physician of Ridgely. 11 February 1905 Saturday Mrs. Grace Madara, wife of Dr. Jacob C. Madara, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stambaugh, died at her home in Ridgely on Wednesday morning last at half-past nine o'clock, aged thirty-two years. Erysipelas was her affliction. Her death sadden the whole community. She was a most estimable young woman and was greatly loved by many friends. Her husband and one son survive. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon, Rev. E. L. Coblentz officiating. The remains were taken to Altoona, Pa., yesterday morning. I'm not related to either of these families, just some information that I had "collected."
