Helen, The following information is what I have in my Nicolite Families' File: William Berry md. Sarah Whitley, Aug. 20, 1823, Marshy Creek MH, Caroline Co, MD. She was the dau. of Anthony Whitley & Sophia UNK and was b: Oct. 6, 1803. (Her birth record obtained from "Add'l Quaker Records of NW Fork", pg. 23) Children: Elizabeth; James (reported on 4/15/1847 for attending places of diversion & neglecting attendance of meetings, disowned); Mary Jane (reported on 1/19/1850 for attending places of diversions & neglecting meetings, disowned); Esther Ann; Sarah C (married: ? TOMLINSON, 1833, dismous. 5/16/1833); Susan; William H. (reported on 3/20/1851 for attending places of diversions and neglecting meetings, disowned.); Margaret; Lydian Ann, b: June 11, 1845. Notes: Much of this information taken from "Caroline Co. Quakers to Indiana, part 2: From NWFork MM to Milford MM" by F. Edward White .... Milford was in Wayne Co, IN. ... "Wm. Berry, wife Sarah and children, Elizabeth, James, Mary Jane - minors, received a certificate of removal on 2/18/1830. Other children (apparently born after the move to Milford were Esther Ann, Sarah C, Susan, William H., Margaret and Lydia Ann ... Mary & Sarah rec'd a cert. from NWFork MM on 11/18/1830." I think the above children who were disowned probably had joined the Hicksites. I also spelled the name one way (Whitley) to keep my records from being confused. Hope this helps.
