Hi Helen, The William Berry (son of John & Mary Berry, grandson of Littleton Berry & Mary [Towers] Berry, and great grandson of William & Naomi [Johnson] Berry) went to Indiana where he and his family were listed in 1850 (I think in Randolph County but can't remember for sure). The Elisha Medford you mentioned was of the Dorchester Co., MD Medfords. Elijah Willis isn't related (at least not closely) to Col. Arthur John Willis. Other than the Name JAMES DILLON, I do not have anything in my database on the names mentioned below. Can someone help connect them up? I am starting with a James Dillon age 74 living in Monroe County in 1850 census with his son Thomas age 23. In that 1850 census, James is shown as being born in Maryland. (1776). In reading through some old Monroe County deed records, I find both a James Dillon and a James Dillon Junior. Which indicates to me there must have been a James Dillon Senior living there in the 1840-1850s. There is a slight possibility that James Dillon born around 1776 was the father of a William Dillon born in 1822 who was living in Monroe County Ohio in the 1850 census. Thanks for help. Hello List, saw Perry's message about the Dillon family of Caroline co, and I am also descended from that family. In the court records of 1778-79, and 1782-85, when the fellows who served in the militia from Caroline co were charged with Levying War against the State, they had to make bond until their trials. I have James and Joshua Dillen signing the bonds for Richard and Jeremiah Andrew, and also the Andrews signing for the Dillons. Knew there was a connection, as Jeremiah's son Bennet and Joshua's daughter Mary Leah Dillon were married in about 1800. Jim Andrew

Have you come across Elizabeth DILLON, married to John IRELAND, 13 April 1815, Ross Co., OH. I suspect, as was often in those pioneer families, that both spouses originated from the same area. John was born 04 March 1772 in Dorchester (now Caroline Co., MD and died 18 June 1841 in Lima, Allen Co., OH. I suspect they knew each other prior to migrating to OH sometime in 1807. It could be that Elizabeth and James are siblings. Elizabeth was John's second wife. First he was married to Esther JOHNSON on 04 April 1797 in Caroline Co., MD, who was also from Caroline/Dorchester Co., MD, but Esther passed on 16April 1814, Ross Co., OH. Elizabeth and John had the following issue: Lucinda IRELAND John IRELAND Elihu S. IRELAND Melia "Milly" IRELAND Robert Oliver IRELAND William Dillon IRELAND Andrew Jackson IRELAND Solomon K. IRELAND Edward S. IRELAND Caroline IRELAND ...and two Unknown offsring, I believe both females. Bob Ireland
In case there are some new researchers on line, I am still looking to connect my William DILLON with his proper parents and ancestors. William was born in Ohio in 1822. In the 1850 census he shows up in the Monroe county, Green township with his wife Elizabeth (?) and three young sons. Abraham, Henry and John. In the 1840 Monroe county census is shown a James Dillon family with a male that would match my William Dillon's age (15-20). In the 1850 census this James Dillon age 74 was living with his son in Monroe county. James' birth place was shown as being Maryland. That would make James Dillon's birth date 1776. Does anyone have information on this Dillon family? Thank you for your help Perry Adams San Carlos, California
