    1. Re: [MDCAROLI] Re:Davis genealogy
    2. If I were you and I was looking for Choptank relatives, I would consider looking in newspaperarchive.com. Perhaps you will find your Davis relatives. Most of the papers are available in this archive only if you have a paid subscription. However, the Denton paper, which covers the Choptank area, is one of the four "free" papers in their database. I did a search and found that the Denton Journal had Henry Davis mentioned on 88 pages of the journal and Harry Davis mentioned on 80 pages. Now, I'm sure these names are fairly common, but given that you believe that your grandfather may have been born in Choptank (making it likely that his parents lived near Denton, too!), it might be worth a look. I did a spot check of fourteen entries and found that many of the references were social news such as "Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis are visiting ...." The ones I looked at listed a married daughter living in Dover, Delaware, some charity work by Mrs. Davis, an injury received by Mr. Henry Davis in a carriage accident, etc. Since I don't know any of your Henry's descendants names, I have no idea if any of the people mentioned in these columns are related to you or not. But, I'll bet you would know! You get to this website via: http://newspapercarchive.com Sign up for the free, limited membership. I think you'll find that if other papers in their archives cover areas that your family lived in, you'll want to become a paid member. They have a really neat service if their papers cover the areas where your ancestors lived.

Surnames: Covey Enter Freeman Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iEB.2ACE/651 Message Board Post: Looking for information on Henry. He is listed in a Norfolk, VA city directory in 1898 as a lumber stacker. He was the son of Henry C. Covey and his second wife Sarah Rothell Pratt. Family traditions says that he was first married to a Mary Freeman in Virginia. There is a marriage certificate that I have seen for Henry C. Covey, born Caroline Co. Md. It was issued for his marriage in Charlston, S. C. to Mrs. Letitia Enter Young on Jan. 11, 1901. Their residence and the ceremony took place at 18 Amhurst St. Charleston, S. C. He lists his occupation as Lumberman. They had one child, Pearl Marguerite Covey b. 23 Nov. 1901 in Georgetown S.C., died 14 Nov. 1987 West Hollywood, Fl. Family tradition is that Henry died in around 1902 and Letitia remarried. Can anyone point me to where I would need to go to find South Carolina Death records for 1902 for Charleston & Georgetown, S.C.?

    2. Bob KNOTTS
    3. Can anyone tell me what churches existed in Queen Annes, Caroline, and Kent cos MD, and Kent co DE between abt 1740 and 1850? I'm looking for information on my gg-grandfather Andrew Levi KNOTTS' parents and family, and the marriage of my g-grandfather, William KNOTTS, b 1805, QA co to Margaret M BARRATT. I would think that WM and Margaret would have been married in BARRATT's Chapel, as Margaret's grandfather, Col. William BARRATT, donated the land for the church. Andrew was b ca 1770, QA co. I'd like to know who was the minister/priest of these churches when they ceased to function, and what was done with their records. Thank you. Bob KNOTTS, PHX, AZ
