    1. [MDCAROLI] Land Plats for Caroline County, MD
    2. Frank Collins
    3. Hi Caroline County Rooters, At the Maryland Genealogical Conference in Salisbury last week, Rocky Rockefeller with the Maryland State Archives announced a new endeavor being undertaken. The Maryland State Archives are currently posting all old and new plat maps found in county record books. He gave us the user name and password "Plato" and "Plato#" (password is just Plato with a # sign after it). I suspect they haven't made a widespread announcement because the project is not complete and they do not have the staff to answer a lot of questions. It is easy to use. Try it... Go to www.mdsa.net Click "Reference and Research" Scroll down and click "Plats" Enter the User Name "Plato" Enter the Password "Plato#" Select "Caroline County" Select "Caroline County Land Survey.....Plats" Select "Plats on Microfilm" Select any liber and click on the MSA number under image After another click you will download an image of a Caroline County Land Plat. With Bernice Leonard's Land Record Books, the 1877 map, and some of these plats maybe we can pinpoint exactly where many of the original land tracts are in the county. I am currently working on the exact bounds of the original "Grantham" and a few other properties associated with Collins family lines. 1. [MDCAROLI] New Genealogy Info -- a new service available!
    2. Hi lists, I just received a copy of a death certificate, today, from: New York Department of Records & Information Services Office of the Commissioner 31 Chambers Street, Suite 305 New York, NY I also received a letter, with it, stating they have photographic records of every house & building from circa 1939-1941 in New York City. They go on to say, this would be a very unique gift for any one interested in genealogy - family history. If you have the exact street address and/or block & lot number for the building you will be able to order a photo. $25.00 for 8" x 10" $35.00 for 11" x 14" plus postage (high-quality black & white prints) I think this is really great that you can obtain a photo of the family home or business. If NYC is doing this you may want to look for other cities & towns across the US, who may have the same service available. :) To those of you who are interested in New York City & this service: Phone: (212) 788-8580 Website: www.nyc.gov/html/doris Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

In the 1880 Federal Census for Harmony, Caroline County, Maryland, he was living with William T. Perry, 23, and his wife Georgeanne Perry, 22. Both were born in Maryland. I have contacted the Caroline County Courthouse and they could not locate a marriage license for these Perrys. I do know there were several other Perry families living in the Harmony area in 1870 and 1880. I am wondering if there is any official guardianship record between John's mother, Eliza Cross, and the Perrys. I do not know whether Cross was Eliza's maiden name or married name and I do not know the name of his father. Eliza was born in Maryland in February, 1847 and her parents also were born in Maryland. I suspect that she grew up somewhere in the area surrounding Easton or Harmony. The 1860 Caroline county census shows a William Tellis (?) family with a 13 year old named Eliza, but I am unable to read the surname clearly or find anything else on this family. I am really looking for any information which will give me Eliza's maiden name and hopefully the name of the father of my grandfather, John. Any help you can give me would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
