    3. Hi there Rick & Carol, This Andrew family is the line that I descend from. The A. Curtis Andrew at American Corner is a 2nd cousin of my paternal grandmother. You can see family bible of this Andrew family at my web-site; http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~carolines/ click on "Vital Records" then on "An Andrew Family Bible" Allen Curtis Andrew's father, son of William Elisha Andrew, was sheriff of Caroline Co., MD just as Curtis' brother Louis C. 2. Carol, Here is an excerpt from a newspaper article written about 1974 about American Corner, Caroline Co., Md...    " American Corner proper has an estimated population of 75 to 100 (since it isn't incorporated there's no official count), but the surrounding area claims a population of more than 1000.     It's leading citizen is A. Curtis Andrew, the 35 year old president of the three member Board of County Commissioners. He is also the proprietor of the A. Curtis Andrew Auction, which holds forth in a converted cannery on Thursday nights, and the A. Curtis Andrew farm which was awarded to his ancestors by the English monarchy. Andrew still possesses the original sheepskin deed." I believe this fellow and the auction barn are still there in American Corner. Perhaps writing him could help you. Sorry, I don't have the address, but it is such a small place a letter would surely reach him with just a zip code. The complete article is at <http://daffin.org/TheirCornerOfAmerica> The formatting is still a little rough as I have not gotten around to "polishing" it up. 1. [MDCAROLI] Messick in DE
    2. There seems to be quite a few folks looking for Messick families. Thought I'd mention that there was a Messick family living in Port Penn, New Castle Co., DE, in the 1950s-60s. I went to school with the only daughter (Donna) when I lived nearby. Of course, the family could have been there much earlier and later -- or even still there. Just thought I'd mention it to give some of you a hint for a Delaware area to search if you haven't already located relatives in that region. (Port Penn is on the Delaware River, south of the Delaware Chesapeake Canal; it is southeast of Elkton, Cecil Co., MD.)
