JOEL appears in McConnellsburg, Franklin Co., PA in 1853 but I can find no information prior to this. By looking at family names, and the fact that he lists being born in MD in Federal Census, I believe he may be descended from JOHN JACKSON (b. 16 Nov 1746 in Chester Co., PA, d. 1 Mar 1795 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD, m. 22 Dec 1768, New Garden Meeting, Londongrove, Chester Co, PA to (1) Susanna Jackson, (2) Sarah Miller). JOHN had 8 children, 4 males of which not much is known (JOHN b. 13 Jan 1777/78, JOSEPH b. 25 May 1779, SAMUEL b. 20 Aug 1782, and THOMAS b. 15 Jul 1788); one of whom may be the father of JOEL.
