S.C.Many descendents here in Ga.He came from Penn.to S.C. before revolution.Name is not common, is found in Alsace and Wuettremburg (our origin) We have visited with Burtz family in Germany.Their origin is Transylvania in present day Romania.This area was in Austria prior to WW I.They are referred to as Transylvanian Saxons and some migrated before WWI, and all left from 1977 to the present in order to preserve their language, and traditions.This area may be the locality you seek.Baltimore City Co. as place of arrival.
