    3. Looking for relatives of anyone mentioned in this news article. My father, Joseph I. Novak, is a nephew of EDWARD and I am trying to find anything I can !!!! The following is directly from a Sun Papers Article dated August 7, 1976. Mr. Novak died Saturday at his home in Linthicum following a long illness. He was 68. Born in Baltimore, he was a graduate of St. Stanislaus Parochial School, Calvert Hall and studied law at the University of Baltimore. Mr. Novak had worked with his father in a family grocery business at the 800 block S. Ann St. His father, Edward I. Novak, had been a member of the City Council representing the Second Ward for two terms. Mr. Novak had been a delegate in the General Assembly, representing the First District, following his election in 1934. In 1938 he was re-elected. He also ran for Congress in 1942. As a member of the house, Mr. Novak sponsored a bill which named US 40 to the now known Pulaski Highway and had Gov. Herbert O'Conor proclaim a "Poland Day" in 1941. Mr. Novak had organized the first Democratic Club in east Baltimore. He was a founder of the Young Men's Polish Club and a member of the East Baltimore Businessmen's Assn. He was also a member of the Second Ward Democratic Club, the Cosmopolitan Democratic Club and the Independent Retail Merchants' Assn. He had receiveda congressional appointment in 1940 as supervisor of census and had worked as an auditor in the State Dept. of Retail Sales Tax for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1975. He is survived by his widow, the former Antoinette Markiewicz; a brother George Novak; a sister, Mrs. Rose Radecke, and two nephews. THANKING EVERYONE FOR YOUR COOPERATION IN ADVANCE.
