Smith and wife, Mary or Elizabeth Oler (sp) Smith Searching for above. Oral history says they died about the time of the Civil War. Anyone know of a listing of deaths during that period? Could not find in Balt Sun listing. They had eleven children, my grand father, also Frederick, was the 6th born in 1825 on the Furnace Farm, Dulaney's Valley, near Towson. His father was the tennant farmer there for many years, farm belonged to the Ridgely's of Hampton House. Family is shown in the census of 1830 and 1840 in Balt. county. My grandfather's death certificate (1910), also in Balt County, shows his father being born in Frederick County and his mother in Carroll County, signed by a brother Oliver Smith. So I would be grateful for any info on the subj. Others in this family of 11 children were WILL, the oldest, OLIVER who later lived on "the Manor", REBEKAH or REBECCA, MARY, JACOB and SUSAN and of course FREDERICK. Mary in later life became the widow of JTB Parlett. Will or William became the father of W. Gill Smith, well known Balt attorney (1882-1942). W. Gill Smith served as president of the Balt County Jeffersonian Publishing Co. Was also a well known Mason and member of the Mount Moriah Lodge. So it is his paternal grandparents I am seeking. Many thanx for any help....
