    1. [MDBALT] SHERWOOD/DAFFIN
    2. Hello resesearchers, Although the surname SHERWOOD has not been my main interest, I have found the name linked to several times to the name I am researching...DAFFIN. In my research, I have found three separate DAFFIN lines that I can not conect together, but the name SHERWOOD is found in each and I hope to find some more clues if possible. 1- FRANCIS DAWES DAFFIN - He died about 1870 or maybe later (sorry, I'm on the road and can't access the exact date). In his obituary, it is stated that he began his career with the SHERWOOD BROS. of Baltimore. He was born in Baltimore also. 2- SARAH DAFFIN; Widow of BENJAMIN DAFFIN - In her Baltimore obituary of about 1890s, it states she was the daughter of the "HON. HUGH SHERWOOD" 3- CHARLES DAFFIN - About 1775 he married MABEL BOZEMAN a widow, whose maiden name was SHERWOOD. (They married in Caroline County) I know it can be just coincedental, but I'm turning over any stones to find a connection between these DAFFINS and would like help in finding any c onnection between these SHERWOODS also. FRANCIS DAFFIN was born 1840, the son of CHARLES C.D. DAFFIN and was in the Zarvona Zouaves and Confederate Army during the entire Civil War. He was a printer by trade and died in Brooklyn, N.Y. His father Charles is the brick wall to this family line, possibly born 1814 in Virginia. He was a railroad engineer in Baltimore and died there. It is not known for sure who BENJAMIN DAFFIN is. He too is shown enlisting in the Zouaves and Confederate Army in Baltimore. There was a BENJAMIN DAFFIN in Baltimore at that time who was a cutler by trade and had come from England about 1813. I think he had a son Benjamin, but we don't show a wife by the name of SARAH. CHARLES DAFFIN came to the Eastern Shore from St. Mary's Co. He bought and built onto a huge plantation called the DAFFIN FARM and DAFFIN HOUSE at Tuckahoe Neck, near Hillsboro, Caroline Co., Md. He was prominent and did have connections to Baltimore as he and his brother JOSEPH DAFFIN were merchants as well as planters. Any info on these names is greatly appreciated. I am wondering if these SHERWOODS are from the same family or not and would like to know more of that name. Rick Largaespada
