His father was John, mother unknown. He supposedly came to America as a child. His first wife was Anna, maiden name unknown. they married before 1850 and had children Caroline, Barbara, John, August, Elizabeth and Rosa. About 1876 he married Christina, maiden name possibly Flack. This was her second marriage too. Her first husband was Henry (Heinrich) Zulauf. Any information on these families would be greatly apprecaited.
