My great-grandparents were Arnie Lee and Ella Grace McDaniel Rosier. Arnie Lee was born in 1889 in Preston County, WV, a son of Charles Lee and Annie Belle Spring Rosier. Charles Lee Rosier was a son of George Washington and Mahala Goff Rosier. George Washington was a son of Andrew and Margaret Smith Rosier. Andrew was a son of Lahabin and Jarussie Rosier, who migrated from the Baltimore area to WV circa 1800. They came from France. I have quite a bit of information on my Rosiers in WV, but nothing in MD. The Rosiers are a small family, and still reside in the Taylor, Preston, Barbour County area. My Rosier family lies in a graveyard high on a mountaintop at Sinclair on the Preston/Barbour Co. border. We have a "gathering on the ground" every August on the third Sunday at the cemetery. Is anyone researching the Bock or Shewell families? I have a Catherine Bock [born abt. 1799 near Shrewsbury, PA]. She apparently was the daughter of a John Bock whose origins may be in Maryland. Catherine Bock married Jesse Shewell. He is first recorded in the 1818 Shrewsbury tax rolls and subsequent records continue to place him and his wife Catherine plus four children in Shrewsbury. Jesse Shewell's place of origin is unknown. However, family oral history indicates that the Bock family may have originated in Maryland. Baltimore County and Harford County both are quite close to the Shrewsbury area. In addition, there is some evidence of other Bock family members living in the area of Bel Air, MD. Their surname soon became Anglicized to WELLS. By mid-1770's they had secured land on Charles St.in what was known as Westminster Hundred of BALTIMORE. I am interested in corresponding with any descendants of the DUPUIS/WELLS family of Maryland. I have reason to believe some of their descendants were in Ohio by 1830. My great-grandfather JAMES D. Hi, I'm new to this list. I am looking for information on a Thomas Brown b: 1774 (the only info I have is the 1850 Federal census which says he was born in Maryland; I don't know which county). I don't know his parent's names nor his wife's maiden name. His wife, Amy Ann, was also born in Maryland in 1783. They settled in PA,Fayette County in 1796. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
