Posted on: BaltimoreCity County Md. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/2894 Surname: ------------------------- I'm trying to match early (1792 and 1801) maps of Baltimore with records of early churches, to make sure I'm seeing all the early churches where records may exist. I'm having trouble matching two churches shown on the map with any of the churches in Kanely's 1987 "Directory of Maryland Church Records" and could use some help. 1) Both maps indicate a "Menonists Meeting House" on West side of Paca Street, between Lombard St. and Cyder Alley. Is this shown under some other name in Kanely's book? 2) Both maps show a "German Calvinists Meeting House" that changes location between 1792 and 1801. In 1792, it's located on the Northwest corner where York Street and Front Street intersect. Later in 1801, it's located on the north side of Sharping Lane, between South Street and Tripplot's Alley. What might this church be listed as in Kanely's book? Another puzzlement to me is that none of the maps identify any church/meeting house that I can identify conclusively at either the Old Otterbein Evangelical United Brethran Church or the Lovely Lane Methodist Church, which both should have existed before 1792. Can anyone suggest where these churches where physically located in this era? Thanks for any assistance with these questions. Gene Buck, ebuck43@aol.com
Dear Folks... I have rejoind the Baltimore and Carroll County Lists, to see if there have been any updates in the surname variants listed above. I have some new bits and pieces to share with any researchers. Also, if any of you may have any publications in which you offer lookups, or are willing to do lookups in this single case, please let me know when I post the data that I seek. Bill Colehour has sent me some delicious odds and ends of family data, and is hot on the lead of one person, a child of one of the two original male immigrants. I will get back to you this evening with my requests. Thanks so much for your past help, and I am hoping you will be able to assist me, and Bill (through me) and thus the entire group of researchers, since Bill is handling this as a One-Name-Study... Vincent E. Summers

The time period was 1820's. I am unsure if she remmarried as I thought her dau. was named WALTMAN. However, that could be mistaken. The daughter was Clara b. 1785. Clara m. William THOMPSON and then Abraham BLAYLOR The family is mentioned in records from Zion German Lutheran Church. Any input on Otto families appreciated.
