My John Wesley KOLBE was the son of John Wesley KOLBE, Sr. (b. October 4, 1857 in Baltimore Co. MD) John Wesley, Sr. was married to 1) Nannie HOWARD then 2)Martha Marie HARE who is John Wesley. Jr.'s mother. His grandparents were Emil KOLBE and Caroline BUITZ. Emil was born abt. 1827 in Germany and arrived in the U.S., June 1851. He married Caroline, March 1856. She was born either in MD or PA. If our two Kolbe families were related, it is likely through connections back in the old country. Hang in there... I know they would have just gotten into the country, but have you checked Civil War records? Good luck with your search.

Do not know his wife's name, but he had at least one daughter: Anna Margaret. They immigrated around 1862-63 from northern germany to Balitmore. One branch stayed in Baltimore (perhaps you have more info on where that branch stands today?), but others came to New Orleans, where I am. I have not had to deal with the Ducatels in Haiti because I already know their origins in France. However, I have done a lot of research in the St. Domingo records, and I would suggest that you search them through the LDS library. There are quite a number of French microfilms of these French Haitian settlers. It would help to know which city in Haiti (St. Domingo) your ancestors came from, though. If you are not familiar with the LDS films, get back to me.
