Posted on: BaltimoreCity County Md. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/3049 Surname: PYNE, RIDGEWAY, ADAMS, NAYLOR, GIBBONS ------------------------- I have discovered an old clipping from the Baltimore Sun that was in my Grandmothers possession. No date is on the clipping but an editorial on the back referenced President Woodrow Wilson. I estimate it to be ca. 1916. The clipping is a photo entitled "Four Generations In This Home". It reads: "Four generations are represented in the home of GEORGE F. PYNE, 1318 WEST NORTH AVENUE, as shown in this first photograph taken of all four. The oldest is JAMES F. PYNE, his father, who is only 79 years old and still on duty at the HOTEL JUNKER, having been a hotel man for 40 years. He himself is over 50 years old but looks under 40, is in the Building Inspector's office at the City Hall. JESSUP L. PYNE, his son, is about 25 and his grandaughter, DOROTHY (M)ARIE PYNE, is 18 months old." I believe this JAMES F. PYNE is my ggg-uncle. Does anyone know anything about the location of West North Avenue, the Hotel Junker or about the Pyne family? Thanks for any info -

Smith and wife, Mary or Elizabeth Oler (sp) Smith Searching for above. Oral history says they died about the time of the Civil War. Anyone know of a listing of deaths during that period? Could not find in Balt Sun listing. They had eleven children, my grand father, also Frederick, was the 6th born in 1825 on the Furnace Farm, Dulaney's Valley, near Towson. His father was the tennant farmer there for many years, farm belonged to the Ridgely's of Hampton House. Family is shown in the census of 1830 and 1840 in Balt. county. My grandfather's death certificate (1910), also in Balt County, shows his father being born in Frederick County and his mother in Carroll County, signed by a brother Oliver Smith. So I would be grateful for any info on the subj. Others in this family of 11 children were WILL, the oldest, OLIVER who later lived on "the Manor", REBEKAH or REBECCA, MARY, JACOB and SUSAN and of course FREDERICK. Mary in later life became the widow of JTB Parlett. Will or William became the father of W. Gill Smith, well known Balt attorney (1882-1942). W. Gill Smith served as president of the Balt County Jeffersonian Publishing Co. Was also a well known Mason and member of the Mount Moriah Lodge. So it is his paternal grandparents I am seeking. Many thanx for any help....

Posted on: BaltimoreCity County Md. Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/3045 Surname: AMBOS, AMBOSE, AMBROSE, MILLER ------------------------- I am looking for my 2nd great-granduncle Christian Ambos. His last name may be listed as AMBOS, AMBOSE or AMBROSE. Christian is the son of Louis AMBOS and Elizabeth MILLER, all whom immigrated from Germany around 1840. Christian had five siblings: Elizabeth, Henry, Lena, Louis and Louisa. Most of the Ambos family made their way south to Thunderbolt, Georgia, but Christian stayed in Baltimore for some reason. When his father Louis died, Christian eventually signed away all rights of inheritance to real property, land and money. None of our family members know what happened to Louis. Can you help us track him down? I've included a descendant tree on what is known about the Ambos family. Posted on: BaltimoreCity County Md. Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/3041 Surname: Noel, Longmeyer, Kreitzer ------------------------- There are several lines of Noel's from western Pennsylvania who do not know their family history before 1800 or so. I would like to collect all the different Oral Histories of the several Noel families whose lines were in Cambria and Westmoreland Counties, PA in the early 1800's. Send these to me, no matter how little or even if they were found to be in error, and I will post them on a Web Page for further study. Example: The oral History of Joseph Noel was that he came from Baltimore, MD to Westmoreland County before 1800, was in the War of 1812, and his father Adam, and with his five brothers, were in the Revolutionary War, Adam being at Yorktown for the surrender of Cornwallis. Adams brothers were Joseph, Peter, Abraham, and Simon Noel. Another oral history from a Noel from Baltimore has the fifth brother as Sylvester but may not be in the same line. Fact: All of the Noel's were of the Catholic faith and may be related to the Adams County, PA line some of whom moved to the Maryland Counties to the south. Most of the Noel's if not all except Joseph moved from Westmoreland to Cambria County, PA where there were already Noel's from Adams County, PA. Also Adams County Noel's moved into Westmoreland County at a later date. One family may have moved into a county north of Westmoreland.
