    3. Posted on: BaltimoreCity County Md. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/13236 Surname: McCALL, LINN ------------------------- I am looking for information about John McCALL. He was born about 1806 in County Tyrone, Ireland. He married Mary ??, supposedly of Baltimore, before 1836. I have found no record of the marriage in Baltimore. They had 2 daughters, Mary b 1 Jan 1836 and Annie b 2 Feb 1842. John's wife, Mary, died 29 June 1845 at age 32. They lived on Monument St. The daughter, Mary McCALL married Terrence LINN in 1865. Annie McCALL died 14 April 1881 at age 39 at the home of her brother-in-law, Terrence. John McCAll died 7 SEpt 1882 at age 76. John McCALL's obit asks Cincinnati papers to copy. I have not found a Cincinnati connection. I believe John married again, as I found Mary McCALL, widow living at the Monument St. home in the 1900 census with sons John, James, and Eugene. I have not been able to find anything about that marriage either.

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/13235 Surname: Purse ------------------------- Sorry, but I do not know anything about a Gilbert Purse. According to information I have, Thomas' parents were William and Elizabeth Holmes Purse and that he had a brother, William, who was in the Revolutionary War from SC. I have not found documentation on Thomas Purse's Revolutionary War service, though several joined the D.A.R. many years ago, claiming service for him. I do know that Thomas was married in Baltimore, Maryland on 9 May 1795 to Mary Pilkington. Four of their children had their births recorded in St. Paul's Church, Baltimore.

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/13230 Surname: Purse, Field, Hickman, Wilson, Page, Gibson, Rose ------------------------- Gilbert Purse m. Susan Dickerson in Somerset Co., MD 25 Sep 1820 (William Gilbert?)They lived in Snow Hill, MD area. There are records of 16 children and c 1842-1843 both parents died. At least 8 of the children spent some or all of the remainder of their lives in Baltimore City. Since "Purse" is a less common name, seems like there may be some connection. Was your Thomas a brother of Gilbert? There is a researcher in Newark, DE who has done a lot of work on the Purse family.

Alternate spellings include: Haston/Heaston/Heston/Haiston etc. Does anyone have info on the Phillip Roddey family of Baltimore? Phillip might have had a brother named Pattrick. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Md/BaltimoreCity/13221 Surname: Taylor ------------------------- The William Taylor that is buried in Loudon Park National Cemetery had a daughter named Anna E. G. Taylor, who was born 25 September 1867. He also had sisters named Mary Taylor (born about 1837) and Elizabeth Taylor (born about 1839). The Anna Taylor that wrote letters to your relative during the Civil War could not be William Taylor's daughter, but she might be a relative. I have no information to support or disprove any relationship. Additional information concerning William Taylor and his relatives can be found at the link provided. Her sister's name was BETTIE MAE JETT and she married CHARLES RATCLIFF of Maryland. Bettie Mae Jett was born in Cynthiana (Harrison County) Kentucky in 1872. She had children by the name of Kathryn, Mary, John, Carl, and Cornish. In the 1932 obituary of her father, Albert Newton Jett, she was listed as Mrs. Charles Dennis of Salisbury, Maryland. I do not know if the last name of "Dennis" was her married name at the time or just an omission of the last name of Ratcliff.
