I am looking to connect with anyone researching LOCK(E)s for the Baltimore, Maryland area, as well as southern and south-western Pennsylvania. My LOCK / LOCKE ancestors are from the Baltimore City/County area. My best guess work right now (not yet tied to family) is that my first ancestor was Thomas LOCK, who was transported to Maryland by one Charles Calvert before 1673. Next I have a William LOCK (also not yet tied to family) who lived in St. Paul's Parish in Balto Town until his death about 1786. I believe that William was the above Thomas' son. It is possible that Thomas did not stay in Maryland, but moved up into Pennsylvania. William had sons Nathaniel, Jacob, and Thomas Oakley LOCK, and daughters Sarah and Jane and others(?). I believe that Nathaniel is the father of my GG Grandfather, Henry Nicolas LOCK(E) but I have yet to come up with any type of birth/baptism record for Henry, so this remains unproven at this point. Nathaniel also had a son named Nathaniel O. LOCK(E), who to the best of my knowledge, may have spent a little time in Philly, before moving to Allegheny County/Pittsburgh. Nathaniel LOCK(Sr.) died in Balto around 1839 (buried in the "south" cemetery?) His Obit was to be copied by the papers in Pittsburgh and Indiana (county, Pa.) Nathaniel LOCK(Jr.) died in Allegheny City (Pittsburgh area) around 1843. Henry Nicholas LOCK(E) was born in Balto around 1810 (+/-) Was married in St. Peter's PE Church in 1832 to Eliza LYETH, who died 6 months later. In 1836, he remarried to Elizabeth PHUMPRY in the First Reform Church in Balto. Had many children (to many to name here) before having my G grandfather, George Shipley LOCKE in Feb, 1860. Family moved to DC in 1867. I am willing to share what info I have with those who might be interested. Thanks! -Geo George F.
