    1. [MDBALT] Re: Bernard Henry Fenhagen
    2. Edward Fenhagen was my great great Grandfather, so I guest that would make Bernard Henry Fenhagen my great great great Grandfather. Edwards daughter Annie Elizabeth married John S. Bean. John and Elizabeth's daughter Maria married my Grandfather Peter Cameron. I have been into researching my family now for about 2 years. I was looking into the origin of the name Fenhagen and your message came up. I knew Edward was from Baltimore but with all the branches of my family I have not got into that part of researching yet. The information about Bernard is helpful to me. I know that most Fenhagen's in St. Mary's County descend from Edward. Since we are not closely related, I do not know any of them personally. I will let you know if I come up with anything on Bernard in my future research. Phil Cameron Mechanicsville Md.

    1. [MDBALT] Old Baltimore Town Roads.
    2. George Locke
    3. I have just finished transcribing the will of my ancestor William Lock of Baltimore dated 13 April, 1786. In his will, he mentions several adjoining properties which lie between two (apparently) North-South running roads. On the west side the properties are bounded by the " road leading from Baltimore Town to the ferry point [unintelligible]." This road is also just called "the ferry road". On the east side the property is bounded by "the fort road". From the distances given in the will, there was 428 feet between the two roads or a little larger that a typical city block (330 feet). Can anyone give me an idea of about where this location would have been in today's terms? This is the first mention I have heard about a ferry around Baltimore, but I am not surprised given the nature of a port town. As for the fort, I could make a guess, but knowledge of the location of a ferry landing would help pinpoint it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours truly, -Geo George F. 2. Contact the Maryland Historical Society. They have the passenger lists, but most importantly, staff members who know the collection. I do know Rukerts Terminal is is a commercial industrial port, don't know its history regarding passenger entries.

    1. [MDBALT] Re: Ship passenger lists
    2. Passenger lists can be found by searching the soundex lists of the passenger's surname. The surname entry indicates the ship and date and sometimes other info such as age and occupation and other family members. The arrivals are arranged on separate microfilm chronologically. The passenger ships that arrived in Baltimore are on microfilm at the Maryland Historical Society. They have a website and do lookups via phone.

    1. [MDBALT] Re: Mary Ann Davis
    2. I'm sorry but the only Batemans I know about were William Bateman who married Sarah Davis in Washington Co.,MD in 1825 and their two children, James (1827) and Sarah(1828-9). At the time of his death in 1830, William was living in Harpers Ferry, VA (now WV). At the time of Mary Anne Davis's death in 1872, she was living with her grandson, James Bateman in Baltimore. I guess there could be some connection there
