All the children were born in Md. except Christopher. I do believe that John went to Ohio at some point. I do not know if he returned to Maryland but his son John did. He was born about 1870 in Maryland and died in Dec. 1949. In 1891 he was living at 3005 Hudson St. with William & William Sr and John who may have been another son of William. I have a lot of information on this family.

Hi, I'm looking for any Baltimore City Directory containing Carroll Roeder, son of Joseph and Rosa Roeder, in the Baltimore area. He applied for his SS in MD before 1951. I know that he died in April of 1970 but I have been unable to locate any obit or place of burial. I was hoping perhaps an address might shed some clue. Can any one help? Thanks in advance for any direction! Best regards, Elizabeth Culhane Fairport, New York
I have two people who are listed in the 1920 census as working in an "Engineering Plant" Since they lived in the Woodberry Section of Baltimore I wondered if there was such a plant near the area. Or has anyone any idea which plant they would mean? Engineering Plant is so vague and not much to go on. Appreciate any ideas from others on the list. Thanks, Mary

I found a Richard J. Connor in the Baltimore City directories, but he was there from 1892 through early 1900s so it doesn't sound like your Connor. occupation 1892-1901: painter 1892,1893 living at 780 McHenry 1894 living at 524 McMechen 1895 living at 1710 Prestman 1896,1897, 1898 living at 41 Jackson n 1899 living at 807 n Central av 1900 living at 437 e Madison 1901 living at 600 Forrest e 1902 no listing BUT 1903 a Richard J. Connor was listed with company "Corkran and Connor", carriage and wagon makers, Hillen c Forrest e I didn't look any further for him In one or more of the late 1890s directories (I didn't take notes- sorry) there was a Richard Connor also listed, but he was not there in 1893. I've not found RICHARD J.CONNOR listed anywhere except on the birth records of the Minnesota born children (including one in 1899). (They had a child in Minnesota that year). I'll see if Ancestry has the other directories, but I think they have mainly 1889-90 to substitute for the 1890 census. I'm trying to find out why they went from Minnesota to Baltimore and back. Thanks again, Pat

I am pretty sure you can find those records at the Md. Archives. The website is www.mdarchives.state.md.us. The info is not available on-line but you can buy the microfilms for the parish. Look under Research and Reference and then church records. That will tell you what parish tapes they have and also how to buy copies. Yes- everyone can access the 1864 Baltimore City directory now. It just went on-line. It's like today's phonebook. The website is www.bcpl.net/~pely/1864/. Contact me at [email protected] so I can help further. I assume you do not live in Md?? Kathy

We know that Berhardina (Johannes and Catherines daughter) was born in Maryland because of the censuses and her death certificate. Johannes did arrive in Baltimore so I was hoping to find some information but then I read about the fire. I am guessing the family stayed in that general area for the years before we find them in the 1860 ILLINOIS census. Your post has given me hope... Thanks so much! You said'" I'll check with the man who organized the 1864 directory on-line project and let you know". Can I access that directory? Deb
