You can type in any surname and do a search for a board dedicated to that name. If you are unsure about a spelling and want to look at all possibilities, you can click on the first letter of a last name and look from there ie click on M for Mackubin and then scan through all of the MacK names or MacC names etc. Let me know if you get stuck. Don't forget the Maryland board too. Boards, then Localities and then States, MD, unknown (county), Kathy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACI/3620.2.1 Message Board Post: Kathy Thanks for the response. I will try and follow up on these directory entries to see if there is a connection. 1864 may be a bit early for my search. According to family tradition Patrick's father, Timothy came to the U.S in 1849, resided near Pittsburg for a time and returned to Ireland in the early 1850s. I think I have him listed in Headford Ireland (land records) from 1854 to about 1865. In 1870, my great grandfather, one of Timothy's sons came to Minnesota. We know that he had a brother Patrick and a sister Elizabeth (LaBaugh) that eventually settled in Baltimore. I am trying to trace Patrick and Elizabeth and try to find out whether or not father Timothy retured to the U.S. with them. My only connection to this family is a daughter Mrs Kate Grogan who corresponded with the family in Minnesota in the 1920s. Kate is listed with a brother Vincent in Baltimore in 1920 census. let me know if you have any other suggestions Thanks again Kevin Geraghty

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AFB.2ACI/3620.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you Richard for your response from the 1890 directory. Patrick K looks like a probable candidate. Is there a directory for 1900 that could be tied the 1900 census? Both Kate Grogan and Vincent Geraghty are listed in 1920 census as having been born in Maryland just prior to 1900. That census would likely provide me with the rest of Patrick's children, his wife's name, and possible year for their marriage. In addition a look back to 1880 or 1870 might help me to locate Patrick's siblings. His father was Timothy Geraghty. I am ultimately seeking parish and cemetary. Thanks again for your help Kevin Geraghty

    2. Kevin Frye
    3. For those new to the roots web and those of you veterans I would like to say that there are many folks who subscribe that are willing to do what they can to help others in their research. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 485 prisoners of war on record from the state of my home state of Maryland and about 100 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I also do the research for any prisoners from any state that were here. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. Please do not concider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask.
