I have a Sikke Nannes Veldman who was married to Aaltje Pieters Bolwijn. They had (at least) two children, Trijntje Sikkes Veldman (1826-1888) and Pieter Sikkes Veldman (1822-). Pieter emigrated to the US in 1873. Pieter was married (1846) before to Jakobje van Dijken (1823-1847). I wasn't aware of Bertha Bakker but I will see what I can find. I am based in Uitgeest in the Netherlands, 30km NW of Amsterdam. kind regards, Peter

They know where they burried them, and they know when and all. Not to mention the death certificate itsself should tell you who the body was released to, (funeral home, or which family member took the body home.) Of course 90% of the time the death cert is best cause its supposed to list the mom and dad state of birth etc. but there are times when the funeral home will fill in their records with info from someone else, if a kid doesnt know they will ask another member of the family and the death certs usually didnt they just put "dont know" in the blanks. Plus in these small towns the funeral homes might know more about you than you do! ;) Good Luck searching them out! I just called this one today and she brought it right up of course I am sure some might make you come in. Later, chelle
I know from personal experience that funeral home records can be useful. I got a valuable clue from the funeral home that buried my greatgrandmother - her funeral contract had a record of who her father was, and the small village in Germany where she had been born. Until then, no one in my family had had any clue about her parents, and we only knew she was from Germany. Jan Z. It's frustrating when you can't find the information that you need. I have 3 great grandparents that can't be located in the 1900 census even with the index! Trying all kinds of spellings, still no luck! Good luck with your research. You may also try looking for Gardiner. Karen

I am hoping that I can find his death certificate soon, and it might have the exact date on it. I cant Thank you enough for taking the time to help me! I now have another remembered story, When he was still living in Baltimore he was with the Yacht club, and one time he and a friend turn over their sail boat just to see how long it would take them to be rescued. This is a story that someone remembered him telling, the truth of it I dont know, but like everything else I have on him I have to take it seriously :) Chelle
