That is a curious story re Pekin. If it were because of the WW11, it doesn't quite make sense, since China was one of our allies. Peking is in China, not Japan. Who knows how these things get started. If they were going to change it, you would think they would find a nicer name than Nikep! Perhaps spelling it backwards made it easier to remember.
