I have been trying to locate family in Cumberland from 1880 to hopefully the present and living descendants still there. I looked to the 1920 census and found a Mrs. Bertie Page listed. Her mother was still living at the time so I know I have the right family. I was puzzled by stepchildren living with Mrs. Page. Their surname was GTEN. What a strange name. Ancestry.com had listed a possible alternate spelling as GLAS. Well lo and behold GTEN/GLAS is actually GLENN. I found the family listed in the 1909 City Directory. Bertie/Birdie/Berdie was actually the widow of Joseph F. Glenn. Mr. Glen was a grocer and they resided at 287 Maryland Ave. I know this is the more correct spelling of the surname and that this is indeed the right family as living with them in 1909 were Mrs. Glenn's parents the John W. Gordon's'. Does anyone recognize Joseph F. Glenn as family? Could you tell me what Birdie/Bertie or Berdie might be short for? I thought perhaps Roberta for Bertie. This Bertie Gordon (b. @ 1882) must have been married at least three times - Glenn, Page and Trice. I'd welcome any help in sorting them out. Thanks, Karen Nelson Hangsleben
