Is there someone out there who can answer this question? Connie This is a Butt ( part of the Ohio Elisha Willison's) and he was in his 20's. Nancy While searching thru some Census this afternoon, I discovered the following as an occupation: Private U.S.A. This was in the 1900 census. Am I correct in assuming that this fellow was in the Army of the United States as a Private? I've never seen anything like this before. Nancy I haven't seen this before either. Is this fellow of age to be a Private? Connie

What is the given name for the person, I would like to look the census up to look at it, it might help to answer the question. Dick, I'm the one who asked Connie the question. I found this in the 1900 Census for Monroe Twp, Licking County, Ohio under Arkansas B. Butt. His son, Earnest B. was given as age 23, still in the parent's home with the occupation "Private U.S.A."
