I have a question about WW registration cards. On a WWI registration card "John Thomas SR" is listed as negro. On a WWII registration card, "John Thomas JR" is listed as white. Did the person doing the registration look at the person registering and decide his race, or did the person who appeared to register state his race? SR was not negro, as far as I know, but would have had a very dark complexion, as evident in the family line. Something similar happened when one of my cousin ancestors completed a marriage license. They were listed as colored. They were not. Some how who ever filled out the form listed it wrong. So it does happen.
