First, a special thanks to Connie Beachy for all her help on Thursday last. Does anyone have any idea where else we can look for a copy of Naturalization papers if they are not at the Cumberland Courthouse? We searched their records on Thursday but found nothing. The person whom we are seeking papers must have been naturalized because he was a public figure and ran for public office at least on 3 occasions. We have checked out Washington County with no luck and since he spent his adult years in Allegany County we felt they would be there. Any ideas or could his record be among those which on a former messege someone said burned?? Mary Ellen Chambers

They usually have the naturalization date, if some one was indeed naturalized, on the census. Check that out first. This would give you a time period and make it easier to check. Also run their name thru Ellis Island if they are in the correct timeperiod.
