Chere, In Generation 3-- Donald McFarlane married Natalie DECK. She was a first cousin of my mother-in-law, Mary Frances Swartley. Her father and my husband's grand-mother were brother and sister. (My husband's grandmother was Amanda May Deck who married Oscar Melchior Swartley) Donald McFarlane was always a jovial person...funny as could be. He and his family lived on Bedford St. in Cumberland, just doors down from George's Confectionary...and across the street from the Baptist Church. Their dau., Margaret (Peggy), was a pretty girl. She went to a blind school and eventually went blind; however, had a cornea transplant. She was married to a silversmith...from Sweden??....seems to me the last name was Lundquist, although I am not certain. James McFarlane, son of James and Mary Gordon, went to school at Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md. and I am told by my brother-in-law that he played basketball while in school. They must have all moved out of town, there are so few McFarlane's in the phone book.
