>>>> What a great idea for a program! I downloaded it and gave it a try. I am using Windows xp as my operating system and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.4 as my internet browser. The program installed perfectly. I opened it and typed in one of my surnames "Langford". I received three names in the "Excellent" column one of which was the name as I had typed it in the search box. I have seen the variation "Lengford" but that did not appear. There were no other names in the "Close" or "Longshot" columns. I highlighted one of the alternate spellings and then clicked on "Google Search" ~ nothing at all happened. Went through the same process with other surnames and received pretty good results with the name variations but the same thing happens when I do the "Google Search" ~ nothing. Firefox in tricky when it comes to some things and I have had trouble with webpages before. I hope this has been helpful. Linda RichardsTucson, AZ >>>> Linda, this feedback has been very helpful. It is exactly the kind of feedback I want. I don't have Firefox installed, but I'll try to find one locally and see why it isn't working. I just got hired for a computer consulting contract in Asheville, NC and start Monday, so it may be a little while before I can do that. Regarding Langford/Lengford, both are phonetically pronounced as LNKFRT. The reason Lengford didn't show up as a suggested name is that Lengford is not in the database of surnames I created. I created it with the top 90,000 surnames from the census bureau. Langford was in there -- 1659th most popular surname, with approximately 24,160 persons in the US with that last name. I will add Lengford to the database in the next release. If you find any other surnames not in the database, let me know. The 90,000 surnames is only from a representative sample of the US. They did not ask everyone, so some names will be missing. Matt _________________________________________________________________ Live Earth is coming.
