Enjoy Pat Dailey Catherine Morgan Collins - The Evening Times, Cumberland, Allegany Co, MD (Lonaconing) - March 24, 1909 Yesterday morning all that is mortal of Catherine Morgan Collins was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Westernport. Mrs. Collins died at her home at Rhee'sStation last Sunday. She was the widow of Dennis Collins, who died about four years ago. Deceased was born near Martinsburg, Va, March 17, 1844, and was married at Mt Savage 46 years ago. Afterwards the Collins family moved to Barton, where they lived several years and later moved to Franklin Hill, where they have lived many years. Mrs. Collins leaves these sons: Daniel, William, Thomas, Joseph and Dennis. Her surviving daughters are Mrs. James Pressly, Prescott, Arizona; Mrs. Joseph Shaffer, Cumberland, Mrs. Charles McDade, Westernport. Her sisters are Mrs. Michael Dailey, Mrs. Samuel Vance, of Franklin; Mrs. Margaret Tippen and Mrs. Ann Tippen of Borden Shaft, and one brother, Thomas Morgan of Franklin. Six nephews of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Lloyd, Thomas and Patrick Dailey, of Franklin; Frank, Harry and Grover Tippen of Borden Shaft. The flower-bearers were Wm and Joseph Vance. Those who attended the funeral from other places were: Patrick O'Connor, Mt. Savage; Michael McDade of Frostburg; Mrs. Patrick O'Donnell, Cumberland' Mrs. Mooney of Midland' Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nolan, Mrs and Mrs. Daniel Nolan, Misses Lizzie and Mary Nolan, Lonaconing; Mr and Mrs. Thomas Winters, Miss Clara Tippen. Charles Watson, all of Borden Shaft; Miss Maggie McGuire of Frostburg; Mrs. Margaret Collins and children and Edward Vine of Bloomington, and John Gannon of Barton. St. Peter's Church was filled with the relatives and friends of the deceased. Father Gallagher sand a solemn requiem mass, assisted by the choir, and Miss Bernadette Bell, the soloist sang two selections. Mrs. Collins was a good woman in every acceptation of the word. Kind-hearted and helpful, she was a benediction and a blessing to all who had the good fortune to know her. Her children followed in her footsteps. They are well respected and no family in Maryland has more friends than the Collins, of Rhee's Station. Many will miss the good woman who has gone to her reward. She was a devout Catholic. A consistent Christian and a good neighbor. She had remarkable memory and remembered well when the first steel rails used in the United States were made in Mt. Savage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
