Boy-O-Day, I'm really frustrated trying to find my grandfather's brother, William McFarlane. My cousin (who has a treasure trove of very old papers and photos that were my grandparents) has his birth date as 7/23/1874 and a death date of 1/8/1943. I find him in our g-grandfather James G. McFarlane's household in 1880 and then can't find him again in Coney after that. There's a hit in Rawlings but I'm a little skeptical of that one although it does list some of his children with names the same as his siblings. I also can't find a draft card for him. Going from memory, my mother used to take care of an uncle (one of my grandfather's brothers) across the alley from us in Knapps Meadow. I thought she called him "Uncle Bill". She said she could hear his breathing before she got to the porch so I assumed he worked in the mine, at least long enough to get black lung. But anyway, you know how it goes, everyone that I could ask about him is gone. I'm going to try to phone my Aunt Evelyn Thrasher, Dad's sister, today to see if she remembers this dude my mother took care of; I'm almost positive it was "Bill"... but it could have been "Jim" I've been wrong before :-). She took care of him in the 40's. I can't find a draft card on this William R. McFarlane either. So frustrating! Sorry for the ramblings; sometimes it helps to bounce things off people. ~Chere
Buttin in, with a death date of 1/8/1843 I'd try the KIA for WWII and see if he is listed there. I doubt this guy was fighting in WWII at the age of 60 something years old with black lung and could barely breath. -----Original Message----- From: mdallega-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdallega-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of soulmate Sent: Monday, February 19, 2007 8:05 AM To: mdallega@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDALLEGA] William R.
