    3. Dottie, you were right and for those who might be following this thread................The reply to me about the Ranging Ground possibly being the Sanging Ground was.................. "The name in the listing for "Ranging Ground" is in fact Elijah Friend." I believe the query said the names were listed in an 1851 Directory. Elijah Friend's father, John Friend, Jr. died in 1849 and Elijah inherited "Friend's Delight" at Sang Run, MD. Elijah operated the store at Sang Run, which was also the local Post Office. Down the road a few hundred feet was the Election House. Today, the election house is still there and, while I think the original store burned and was rebuilt - The Friend Store is still there. There was a Tomlinson Inn/Tavern sitting along what is now old Route 40, the earliest Road paid for by the government. Inn and road are still there but not the Tomlinsons. Some of them ended up in Pennsylvania. Connie > Can someone tell me about some old towns - Which County are they in? - > Allegany or Garrett? Glade Valley - Ranging Ground - Tomlinson
