Dick~ What was the time line for the citizenship records burned in MD? We're looking for records for approx. 1850 - 1860 in either Allegany or Washington County. Would that be in the incinerated time line??? The actual documents had been lost in a fire that destroyed all of the Maryland citizenship records for that era. My g-grandfather applied for citizenship in 1848 and became a citizen in 1853. Mary Ellen, The record I was looking for was for Baltimore, I was checking at the Historical Society in Baltimore, and this was the info I was given when I tried to find the actual records. My g-grandfather applied for citizenship in 1848 and became a citizen in 1853. But there was no date given when the fire occurred. Sorry I can't provide any further info.
