Why don't you order his death certificate? The MD Archives Vital Records index shows a Thomas Kiddy who died July 10, 1908, in Allegany Co. (See if you can get here: http://mdvitalrec.net/cfm/dsp_jump.cfm?CurrentPage=265 ). It may well give a birth date and place, possibly parents (depending on whether the informant knew any of that). You might find Orianna Kiddie/y as a widow in the 1910 census, too.
