Thanks Chere. I felt it might be a road somewhere off Main St. We have driven up Douglas Ave. & on up the mountain. Sure is difficult to get back down!!! Just strange that the reporter would say a street name in the Evening News rather than a town's name. But, that was 1909 and he probably figured everyone knew from whence he was speaking :-) Never thought almost 100 years later a descendant of someone would be nosing around trying to get to know their ancestors. Douglas Ave. then turns into Avilton Lonaconing Rd. and goes out to the farms (where the B52 crashed in 1964) and connects to other roads leading to Frostburg, Savage River or Westernport. Beechwood St. is about 2 miles long and ends. Beechwood is in the lower section; I guess you could say it runs up the hollow; Douglas Ave runs up the mountain; a few hundred feet difference in elevation. The articles are from the Evening News circa 1909 which identifies them as Thomas CHAMBERS of Beechwood & Mrs. Thomas CHAMBERS of Beechwood. Would anyone know where this would be located or is it an area of Lonoconing??
