Good morning to everyone - I received a plea for help from a "Sprowls cousin". She asked where to search in Maryland for her 2nd great grandfather Charles Limbert. He was born in Germany around 1822, does not know where. And he died in Maryland around 1851, no location known. His wife was Elizabeth PRACHT. Elizabeth 2nd husband was Henry HORR. Elizabeth and Henry HORR went to PA and WV , and Elizabeth died in Sandhill and buried at Mt.View Cem. in Dallas, WV. The cousin has info on Elizabeth, but no further data on Charles LIMBERT. I have no idea where to tell her to begin. (other than searching county websites for Limbert info and starting at 1840/1850 census for Limbert in MD. I don't know what census info she has. And early ships lists for that time period (1820s to 1850s) hard to come by. What Maryland state archives are available online? Where should she start her search? HELP...... I just don't know where to start with this. Thank you so much for any leads/suggestions. John -any suggestions for locating records in Germany? Ruth Sprowls
Ruth I found any August Limbert age 34, in Baltimore Co in the 1860 census on Heritate Quest. I also know that the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore has Allegany Co newspapers on microfilm, some as early as 1841. I bet she can find his name spelled wrong many times, Lambert, Lembert etc. Linda Harden-Lantz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Sprowls" <[email protected]> To: "MDALLEGA" <[email protected]> Cc: "John P Gerdeman Sr" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 8:25 AM Subject: [MDALLEGA] Where to search in Maryland - assistance please > Good morning to everyone - I received a plea for help from a > "Sprowls cousin". Linda, thanks for the leads. I am not even sure it would have been Allegany co. I am betting on Baltimore - Thanks again. Has Becky contacted you regarding the Harden research? ruth
