    3. I think this is pretty standard -- Westmoreland county says they didn't start keeping records until such and such a year, but in their database they have quite a few before then -- so it's always worth checking. 3. Yes it would be worth a shot. Now another question, how would I get the courthouse to search for a marriage which I don't know the date of and only know the first name of the bride. I know she married a William Nuse who was born in 1841. I do know from a search in Ancestry that he married a Bridget Corey (from Ireland) on 4 February 1864. But they had no record of his marriage to Leatha what ever her surname was at the time.

    3. check a nearby state like WV or PA. My greatgrandparents..... "ran off the summer of 1841" to get married in PA. They lived in Frostburg area. Linda Harden-Lantz

    3. Marge, I haven't followed this conversation word for word but have you checked the online marriages of Allegany County, MD http://usgwarchives.net/md/allegany/othrmarr.html There is a list at this site starting with 1791. I found marriage date at the Cumberland court house for my ancestor who married in the early 1800's. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Marge Sent: Thursday, April 23, 2009 6:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MDALLEGA] Fw: Marriage Licenses Yes it would be worth a shot.
