    3. Hello, I'm searching for the maiden name of the first wife of William Alec or Alex McMurdo. I believe she might have been a Meagher from Salisbury, PA, but am not sure. The following are the obits for William and his second wife: Kitzmiller, Md, Dec. 17 - William Alex McMurdo, 73, died Monday at his home at Emoryville, W. Va., of a heart attack. Burial was in Hartmonsville Cemetery this afternoon. He is survived by his widow, Pearl Junkins McMurdo and five children by a former marriage, Mrs. Josephine Folk, Westernport; John McMurdo and Mrs. Robert Yenhart, Akron, Ohio; Harry McMurdo, Washington; and Mrs. Ellis Weise, Westernport. Three stepchildren: Melvin and Lawrence Simmons, Emoryville; Miss Bernice Simmons, Cleveland, Ohio, and two half-brothers, Thomas Robertson, Meyersdale, and James Robertson, Lonaconing, and eight grandchildren. The Cumberland Evening Times, December 17, 1941 EMORYVILLE - Mrs. Pearl Simmons McMurdo, 71, died last night at her home here following an illness of three years. Born at Oakland, Md., a daughter of the late David V. and Nancy (Clark) Junkins, she had resided here 60 years. Twice married, she was preceded in death by both husbands, Oscar Simmons and William McMurdo. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Bernice Simmons, Cleveland; two sons, Lawrence Simmons, Emoryville, and Melvin Simmons, Elk Garden; a stepson, Harry McMurdo, Akron; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Hilda Yenhart and Mrs. Jean Kyle, both of Akron, and six grandchildren. The body is at the home of her son, Lawrence Simmons. Services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p. m. at Emeryville Methodist Church by Rev. William Withers and interment will be in Hartmansville Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, March 21, 1956 For some reason, I cannot locate any of the children from the first marriage. I do have an obit for Lawrence Folk, who also died in 1941, married to Josephine, but I cannot find her. I am assuming, but am not sure, that Josephine died before 1956 and that Mrs. Ellis Weise (mentioned in the first obit) remarried a Mr. Kyle from Ohio. I cannot find Ellis Weise, either, although I did find his parents and brother near Grantsville. Any help would truly be appreciated. Sheryl Kelso

    3. Hello Sheryl: Sorry I can't help you with the maiden name of William McMurdo's first wife, but I wanted to thank you for posting the obituaries. My great grandmother was a Junkins from the Hartmansville - Emoryville area. She and Pearl Junkins (her full name was Ozilla Pearl) were first cousins. I had a note in Pearl's file that there was one reference to her as "Mrs. McMurdo", but until you posted the obituaries, I hadn't found anything to verify that information. Thanks again, Sam ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sheryl Kelso" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 14, 2009 11:32 PM Subject: [MDALLEGA] McMurdo > Hello, I'm searching for the maiden name of the first wife of William Alec > or Alex McMurdo.
