Priscilla, what I read is: July 12, 1861 I have been working with a lot of old newspaper articles lately, and I really think that is 1861 - which makes sense. The cry for volunteers for the Civil War went out in April 1861 - it looks like the article with the list of names could be those who just enlisted from the 14th, 15th and 16th districts. Ruth

Ruth, I totally agree. On the top of that page, I think it says, July 12, 1861. The "1" looks just like the other "1's" in "12" and "1861". However, Ancestry has it listed as 1864. Also, that page is actually page 3 of 3 for the paper that day. The first page says 1864, the second page isn't dated. So, either the original printer got it wrong on the 3rd page (most likely), or perhaps Ancestry got the pages mixed up when scanning. Just to make sure we're all talking about the same districts, we have been talking about the districts listed in the 5th column over on that page. Karen P.S.
