Archibald Casteel is one of the names listed on the 1864 list of draftees. He ended up joining a regiment in West Virginia. This led me to a file I have in my computer and thus - a headache... Once upon a time, I was very careless about writing down my sources. Live and learn! So, I have a digital copy of a page from some book (page 179) that is titled, ADJUTANT GENERAL'S REPORT. It goes on to read: Return of Captain Joseph M. Godwin's Company "O," of the Sixth Regiment West Virginia Infantry Volunteers, stationed at Fort Pendleton, Md, on the 31st day of December, 1864... It's a list of 45 men, some of whom were living in Allegany, MD and were listed in the State Draft for Allegany County July 13, 1864 article in The Alleganian. Would any of you know the source of this page 179?
