I had been in contact with the son Lynn concerning genealogy, but it was a one-way street. I gave information and he returned none. He knows more, but will not tell. Interestingly enough, he initiated the contact. Duetta is not the natural daughter of John Slidell Combs and Emma V. Seaber, as Emma passed in 1896. I believe John took her in and raised her as his own. Upon his untimely death in 1909, the children were dispersed. When my grandfather Frank B. Combs was able to, he got Duetta out of her situation and had her live with him and raised her. I believe her real father to be Joseph Combs, son of Philip Combs (Frank's brother). Joseph Combs left town and joined the Navy, while John Slidell Combs raised his daughter. >From Cumberland Times-News, November 29, 2010 John L. Here's an old post of mine: I don't believe I received a response, but am not sure. From: Matt Combs < matt_combs@hotmail.com> Subject: [MDALLEGA] Winterstine Obit Lookup Request Date: Sun, 7 Jan 2007 17:14:43 -0500 All, I came across a partial article covering the horrible crash involving John H. WINTERSTINE and Nettie WINTERSTINE near Mason's Barn in Cumberland on November 17, 1980 (article from Nov. 18). Could somebody look up their obituaries for me, presumably the same or next day or so? I would also like the continuation of the article (page 5 from Nov. 18). This is likely the elusive WINTERSTINE family I've been searching for. I think Nettie is the daughter of John Slidell COMBS of Ridgeley. Any help is appreciated. Matt Duetta G. Combs Winterstine 1903- after 1954 John H.
