The name Eury is an aunts maiden name. Her first name was Pearl and I know somewhere I have the place she was born in Maryland but for the life of me have not found it recently. I have kin - who is researching the name because Pearl was her grandmother. Pearl was my aunt. Pearl married John Pendergast who was a Catholic. She converted to Catholicism and took the name Mary Catherine at her baptism as a catholic. I knew her as Aunt Mamie. That is also about all I know about her. Her granddaughter called me yesterday and said she knew that there was a Columbus Washington Eury in the family tree. She wondered if I knew anything more about him. I believe she said his fathers name was William. She seemed to believe that the family came from Ireland. That completes the family history that I know. I am sending some info to this cousin and will include what you have offered as a possible connection. I told her yesterday to contact the Allegany list because every time I have sent a query I have received a response. This list is golden. I love it. Thank you so much for your help. The name came from the English name Ihrich which in America translated to Arey, Airey, Airy, Ary, and others. Gottlieb Ihrich (Ihrig) came from Germany. In English Ihrich became Arey, Airy, Airey, Aiery, Ary, Eary, and others. Gottlieb translated to Cutlip.
