    1. [MDALLEGA] McDade/Donahue

    3. Does anyone out there have any McDade or Donahue connections? I am trying to figure out Lawrence Joseph McDade/Donahue. He was born in Pekin 29 Apr 1882 to Ellen Begley, who was unmarried at the time. In the baptismal record, his name appears as Begley. His mother then marries Charles McDade and Lawrence goes by the name McDade. Lawrence marries Martha Ellen Buckalew in 1903 and they have three kids, Lawrence, Virginia and Eleanor. Martha died in 1909 and the kids go to live with their maternal gramma. Later that same year (geez) Lawrence married Matilda Riggleman and they have one daughter, Madalyn. In the WWI registration in 1918, his name appears as McDade, but by the 1920 Westernport census, his name appears as Larrie Donahue, Jr. and it appears he went by Donahue for the rest of his life. He and Matilda were married for over 50 years and spent the rest of their days in Westernport, buried at Philos. Their daughter, Madalyn, married Porter Lawrence Runner and lived in Cumberland. Here is his obit: "The Herald" Piedmont, West Virginia, Wed 1 Oct 1969: "Lawrence "Larry" Donahue, 87, of 303 Virginia avenue, Cumberland, formerly of Westernport, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Nikep, Mr. Donahue was a retired B & O Railroad employee and was a member of the brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and JUOAM, Council 3. He attended Central Assembly of God church. Twice married, both wives, Martha Buckalew and Matilda Riggleman, preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Lawrence Donahue, of Keyser; two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Bobo, Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Madalyn Runner, Cumberland; two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Kelly, Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Kathleen Patricianae, Baltimore; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Services were conducted today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. at the Boal Funeral home, Westernport, Rev. Hartley Wigfield and Rev. Vincent Beemer, officiated. Interment was in Philos cemetery, Westernport. Pallbearers were Billy Bruck, Sonny Hoffman, James Runner, Roger Bosley, William Bosley and Thomas Landis." So my question is, can anyone explain the name change or who his father was. My guess is, that his father was the Lawrence Donahue (son of Lawrence Donahue and Bridget Mclarkie) who lived down the street from his mother in the 1880 Pekin census, but I am not sure.
