Jackson is the name of a street in  Coney, as well as a mountain close by. All are part of Coney.     There is a really good library downtown with a  history room. I would assume you could find general info there. Allegany College  (I'm not sure of the proper name these days) is located in Cumberland and  has a great collection of genealogy records including the Allegany Co. Genealogy  Library.     Your folks might possibly be buried in the Old  Coney Cemetery located in Knapps Meadow or Oak Hill Cemetery in Coney. Central Standard Time,  croberts4@aol.com writes: Hello all, I'm researching my ancestor Edward Frederick BALL  and his wife Mary (both b. abt 1810), who came to Lonaconing, Allegany County  about 1860 from Wales.  The couple immigrated with children Frederick (b.  1835), Thomas (b. 1837), Mary (b. 1842) and John (b. 1847).  Another  daughter, Ann, stayed in Wales with her husband Elijah GOULD, and then  followed the family to Lonaconing in about 1865.  Their children were  Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Elijah, James, Ruth, Millicent, and Olive  May.    The oldest BALL son, Frederick, married Anne NAIR in  1860 and then moved to Iowa.  The daughter Mary BALL married James  FURLONG and moved to Pennsylvania.  The youngest BALL son, John, married  Eliza WRIGHT and stayed in Lonaconing. I have a copy of a will written  by Edward BALL dated 1870.  He bought land from the Georges Creek Coal  and Iron Company in 1867 - the will says the land is in the village of  Jackson, but all the census records say he lives in Lonaconing. I live  in Pennsylvania and I'm new to Maryland research.  I'm thinking of taking  a trip to Lonaconing and starting to plan where I need to go.  I'd like  to find: 1) the marriage certificate for my direct ancestors Mary BALL (b.  1842) and James FURLONG who probably married in December 1860 2) the death  certificate and burial for Edward Frederick BALL and his wife Mary  BALL.   They are both in the 1880 census but not in the 1900 - other  than that, I don't know the date of death or place of burial.  If  anyone has any suggestions for the best way for me to find these items, things  I should see in Lonaconing, or any connections with these families, I'd love  to hear from  you!
