    3. Shawn~       Thanks for sharing this article.  Bernard HUGHES was my husband's Uncle Barney HUGHES.  And Fr. NOLAN had some link with the NOLAN family that married with the Thomas CHAMBERS family of Lonoconing.  Jack is not here at the moment but I think Uncle Barney either bartended or had a bar on Main St. in Frostburg.  Mary Ellen Chambers ________________________________ From: soulmate <soulmate@embarqmail.com> To: mdallega@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 11:54:52 AM Subject: Re: [MDALLEGA] Celebrating St. Patrick's Day more than 100 years ago Shawn, Have a happy Thursday Linda -----Original Message----- From: mdallega-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdallega-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Shawn McGreevy Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 12:51 PM To: MDALLEGA@rootsweb.com Subject: [MDALLEGA] Celebrating St. Patrick's Day more than 100 years ago THE EVENING TIMES, Cumberland, MD  -  Thursday  -  March 18, 1909  - Page 2 THE SAINT'S DAY IN FROSTBURG An Irish Drama Finely Presented Last Night.     The Irishmen and their descendants celebrated St. Patrick's Day in a fitting manner here yesterday and the shamrock and bits of green ribbon were very much in evidence.  At 8 o'clock in the evening a large audience witnessed the production of the Irish drama, "Shannon Boys," at the Frostburg Opera House.  The scene of the play is laid in Ireland and the plot, which is a most beautiful and interesting one, was brought out in the work of the different characters, Rev. 3. About a year or so ago Ancestry informed everybody and you must have been missed that they were moving their Myfamily files to Ancestry. That you were told you would have a chance to remove it, or they would just put it on Ancestry. They gave everybody a chance of about a couple of weeks to take it off and place it some place else. Some times a person can send a page to someone not belonging to Ancestry, that is not a member, but I don't think you could send a whole file.

    3. Since you are so new to genealogy I will let you know that a daughter is sometimes very hard to locate. Especially, if she was 15 in 1880. The 1890 census records burned for all 48 states very little was saved and that census would have made her 25 and then the 1990 census she would have been 35. Unless you know who she married a woman can sometimes be a dead-end or "Brick Wall" as we call it in genealogy. Some early marriage records are available for the state of Maryland but sparse and spotty. Try this site to find a girl with that surname. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mdallegh/ Check all the county resources you can find on this site. Don't overlook the adjoining county's of Garrett and Washington, also across into the PA and WV counties. And good luck to you in your research. 3. If she was 15 then she probably married by the next census. Maybe you could check the marriage registers and see if you find her and the surname of the man she might have married. The 1890 census being missing makes it a little harder to find ancestors.
