The Stateline I know of borders Washington Co., MD. You may want to check out the Washington Co. Rootsweb List, also. Sharon

    1. [MDALLEGA] Gordon family plots puzzle
    2. Karen Hangsleben
    3. I need some help from a local in Cumberland who might belong to SS Peter and Paul Ch or to St. Patrick's. I found my one relative at St. Patrick's Cem. in Sec C Lot 153 Grave either 3 or 4. His name was John W. Gordon and he died in 1919-October 12. I don't recognize any of the persons buried in this plot - the surnames include Rohr, Cole and Moore. A Mr. Wolford was the undertaker listed on both death certificates and in a round about and wonderful way I located these burial records at Upchurch FH in Cumberland. Now, they tell me that their records say that both John and wife Emily Susan Gordon (nee Gill) had funerals at SS Peter and Paul but were buried at St. Patrick's. Emily Susan Gordon died 12/26/1928. I called St Patrick's back and asked about section 15 that was listed on the FH records. They don't have a section 15 - their sections are A-D. Does SS Peter and Paul use numbers instead of letters? They can find no record of Emily Susan Gordon resting in either cemetery. Perhaps if they do not - Emily is in an A-D section at St. Patrick's in a Lot #15. I'm assuming of course that the actual grave location numbering doesn't exceed 6 or 8 spots. I would walk the cemetery if I could! Let me know of perhaps others experiences and just how these cemeteries are laid out. Thanks, Karen Nelson Hangsleben

    3. I assume that you are using Ancestry.com, since their current offereing is only 1841-1861. They told me that they are working to get 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 online. In the mean time, you could use the Scottish Governemnts's official site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's expensive to use (pay per view), but it has the complete 1841-1901 Scottish census collection indexed with images. You pay for credits up front and then use those credits for searching and if you desire, viewing the images associated with the search result. They also have civil Birth, Marriage and Death Registration records for 1855 thru the early 1900's, and OPR Baptismal and Marriage records with images for before 1855. 3. Thanks Theresa, I'd very much like to track down Jean McFarlane b.1849 in Kilwinning, Scotland, sister of my ggrandfather James G. McFarlane b. 1850. We find her in the Andrew McFarlane household in 1851 with siblings Mary, Andrew and James. In the 1861 census, Jean, age 12, appears as a servant in the (motherless) Thomas Banks household. In 1861, brothers Andrew, 24 and James, 21 (my ggrandfather) remained at home with 60 yr old father Andrew and 58 yr. old mother, Margaret, My ggrandfather James immigrated to U.S. (Lonaconing) to mine coal in 1869. Would like to follow Jean after her servitude to the Bankses as well as Andrew who remained in Scotland. 3. Hello List, It's been a while since this topic was discussed but my grandparents lived on/in Stateline, PA. They went to Pine Grove or Piney Grove School around 1925ish. I know it's years later than what everyone was talking about but does anyone have any information on this school? Children from Ellerslie, Stringtown, Palo Alto and probably more little villages around that area walked to this school.

    1. [MDALLEGA] HEAVILIN, LePORTE/LAYPORT/LePORTH
    2. I found information that Samuel Heavilin (s/o Stephen) and Mary Layport were married 02 Jun 1794 in Allegany Co., MD. I have no documentation for this, but I am very anxious to track the Heavilin migration from NJ to Maryland, to Pennsylvania, to Ohio, and to find how our family connects to the NJ Haviland family. I have been told that Samuel had a brother named John, for whom we have no records, and a brother named Stephen, who moved to Ohio with him. Can anyone help me find records of the Heavilin (Haviland) family in this time period, in Maryland? thank you very much Marilyn (Heavilin) Current

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
