Theresa, I have just a little on Shanholz or Shanholzer. My Gr aunt Abigail Moorehead Parrish's mother was a Shanholz. They came from Hampshire Co WV and ended up in Ohio. Look in Hampshire Co if you want to trace that line. Todd ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
Does anyone have a connection to Shanholtz - I am looking for an Alice Morgan (b.1886) who married Jacob Shanholtz - Her mother was Harriet Collins Hughes. She had a brother Eli who died in 1918 flu epidemic. I believe Alice and Jacob moved to Barberton Ohio. Thanks Theresa

What year was your William born - and do you know where in Wales?
found this website while doing a search at www.google.com hope there is something to help someone. Ruth http://www.midlandroots.com/newspaper_articles.htm
William Morgan (b. Oct. 1885) who married Carrie Speir was born in Wales, the son of William D. and Mary Jane Morgan. They were from Carlos, which is a small mining town not far from Frostburg or Wright's Crossing.
I have Eva born in Hancock, the daughter of Jacob Pryor and Susan Ann Bridenthal. This is her obituary from The Republic of Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. Hope this helps. Sheryl Eva (Sis) Morgan, 85, Mount Savage, Md., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1985, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. She was born Jan. 13, 1900 in Hancock, daughter of the late Jacob and Susan Pryor. Her husband, Joseph Morgan, died in 1955. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Barrelville Outdoor Club. She is survived by three sons: Joseph T. Morgan, Frostburg, MD.; James P. Morgan, Catonsville, Md.; Gerald F. Morgan, Bedford; five daughters: Mrs. Helen Petenbrink, Hyndman; Mrs. Rosemary Wilson, Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Dolores Lease, Angola, N.Y.; Mrs. Alice Neubiser, Wellersburg; Mrs. Nancy Bridges, Mount Savage, Md.; two brothers: Michael Pryor, Cumberland; Eugene Pryor, Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Porter, Barrelville, Md.; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sheryl, Do you know where Eva Pryor came from? What timeline are you talking about? I have a line of PRYORs from the Hancock area that I'm trying to get more info on - at least one of which (Anna) ended up marrying one of my MILLER line in Cumberland Valley. I know of a line of MORGANs in the Beans Cove/Flintstone creek area. Not a big branch of research on my part, but I do have a few names.... A big huge Thank you goes out to Carol Dinning who found an obituary of Mrs.William Hammers (my great great grandfather's wife) and was kind enough to mail it to me. I have shared it with various members of the family and we are thrilled. Thank you! Theresa
Theo did have a brother William but he somehow found his way to Crawford County Kansas - he married a woman named Anna. He is the only one of my great grandfather's brothers I know anything about. There was also a George and a John. George was born in Wales and immigrated with their parents. John as well as Theo were born here. Theo's father (also a Theophilus) had brothers Isaac and Richard and William - I know Richard immigrated since I have found his death mentioned in the Cumberland newspaper. I believe I have found his family but can not be sure. If this is the right family Richard had a son John William. And back in Wales both Isaac and William had son's William but I am not sure if they immigrated. By the way Theo's grandfather was - yes you guessed it William Morgan! I am not sure where Carlos is but I have the Morgans basically from Westernport to Mount Savage and small towns in between from 1869 on. I do know in 1905 Theo, Sr. was living in Wright's Crossing as that is where Richard died. It would be wonderful to find more about Theo's uncles - maybe one day! Theresa
I wonder if there might be someone who has access to Ancestry who might be able to look and see if there is a family with a child named Josephine, age 5 years, in the 1870 census for Allegany County. They probably would be located in Westernport, Barton or Lonaconing. Her parents were not married, so I don't know what surname she may be shown with or who she may be living with. Thank you for your time and help. Ken _________________________________________________________________ Mortgage rates as low as 4.625% - Refinance $150,000 loan for $579 a month. Hi, Theresa, The Mulligans are where I found your Catherine Regina. Carl Mulligan, Robert's or Buck's brother, was married to Margaret Elizabeth Blank. Margaret's parents were William Lester Blank and Lillian Viola Michaels. Lillian's parents were Peter Paul Michaels and Margaret Meina Martens. The Martenses were where I came in, very far removed from your aunt, I'm sorry to say. However, my husband's line is located in the Lonaconing area. His great aunt was Carrie Speir who married William Morgan. This is the line that I know little about and would love to know more. Except for census info and obits, I have little on them, although I must admit I haven't done any thorough searches at the courthouse. Another line of Morgans I am interested in is the family of Joseph Morgan and Eva Pryor of Cumberland. None of these lines cross that I know of. Sheryl
Patti, When Charlie Often transcribed all the info from the Cumberland Times, he provided enough information for researchers to locate longer articles. Catherine Regina was my Great Aunt Kay - she is was grandmother's sister and my God Mother. We lost her in 1995. Aunt Catherine and Robert "Buck" Mulligan had a son James. I have lots on that side of the family. I would like to hear more about your Morgans.
How many pages are in this book and does it go beyond 1710? I found my 9th great grandfather in these pages. It should probably be noted that when I asked Charlie if those obits posted were all of the obituaries from that time period, he said no. They were just the ones he found during his research. I have since found others not on the web site for that time period in the same Cumberland papers.
